Decisions & RFIs
Track pending owner selections and formal information requests without losing anything.
Decisions
A Decision is any open item waiting on an owner or client to make a selection — flooring finish, fixture grade, cabinet hardware. Each decision has a due date, a category, and an option for the client to pick from. When the client selects an option via the portal, Tenon marks it resolved and logs the choice with a timestamp.
Creating a decision: go to your project’s Decisions tab and click New decision. Set the category, write a clear description of what needs to be chosen, attach any photos or spec sheets, and set a due date. The client sees it in their portal without needing a Tenon account.
RFIs (Requests for Information)
An RFI is a formal question directed to the architect, engineer, or GC when drawings or specs are unclear. Tenon tracks each RFI with a subject, a question body, priority, and the target recipient.
Creating an RFI: open RFIs from the project sidebar. Write your question clearly, attach relevant drawings or photos, set a due date, and send. The recipient can respond directly in Tenon or via email; the thread stays attached to the RFI for your records.
Why they matter
Untracked decisions and RFIs are the leading cause of disputes and delays in construction. Tenon’s log of every question, answer, selection, and timestamp gives you a defensible paper trail — and Sage can surface any open item instantly when you ask.
